The Things You Need To Avoid When You Have Hemorrhoids

Going through a bout of hemorrhiods can be a trying experience. Unfortunately, that experience is often made far worse due to some of the things that we unknowingly do that could contribute to the hemorrhoids worsening. Naturally, this is something that you'll probably want to avoid stringently, so be sure to pay close attention and learn what you absolutely should not do when you have hemorrhoids.

1. Don't Scratch

Granted, this is easier said than done, and hemorrhoids can really get to be unbearably itchy, but despite all that -- scratching is still completely out of the question. Essentially when you do scratch you run the risk of further inflamming your hemorrhoids, or worse: Injuring yourself too. Try to refrain from scratching completely, and maybe even take some symptom based treatment to reduce the itch that you're facing.

2. Don't Lift Heavy Objects

Most people don't realize this, but lifting heavy objects automatically puts more strain on your tail end, and therefore can affect your delicate condition. While you're having a bout of hemorrhoids you should really completely swear off lifting anything heavy, and in fact should probably stay away from exercise that is too strenuous altogether. Some mild workouts are fine, and even advisable, but don't push yourself too far.

3. Don't Eat Spicy Food

Spicy food is sometimes just as spicy coming out as it was going in. That makes it a definite 'no' while you're having hemorrhoids as the spices could actually further inflame your condition. Also, they're certainly not going to help your digestive system very much at all.

4. Don't Sit on Hard Surfaces

Needless to say, sitting on hard surfaces while your bottom is inflamed and painful is just a bad idea. Some people buy specialized hemorrhoid pillows (i.e. donut pillows) that will help them to sit down without actually exposing their inflamed areas to the hard seat itself. Even though this seems like a small step, it could help you to just be able to sit down and relax every now and then.

5. Do Not Take Caffeine and Alchool

All said and done, these are two substances that will dehydrate you, thus causing even more inflammation, pain, and so on. Keep yourself hydrated and steer clear of both -- you'd be amazed how much cutting these two out of your life could help you.

Now that you know exactly what you shouldn't be doing, be sure to not do these things and you'll find that your hemorrhoids are a lot more manageable as a result!
